As I was watching the Caps-Islanders hockey game tonight, it reminded me of my hunt for good beer at the Verizon Center when I went to see the Caps play the Islanders on October 30 with Benjamin.

It didn’t take long to find a craft beer among all of the light lagers brewed for the masses.  Near our seats on the concourse was a beer stand serving Fire Rock Pale Ale from Kona Brewing Company (Kona, HI).  This is an excellent pale ale and the perfect session beer for a hockey game.

I was impressed with the beer selection at the Verizon Center — while I stuck with the Fire Rock all night, there were plenty of other craft beer options.  Yet more proof that D.C. is a great beer town!
