The unofficial snow total for Kensington, MD from the Blizzard of 2010, aka Snowmageddon: 26 inches. Even with all that snow, I’ve got spring fever — the Spring Fever Variety 12 Pak from Magic Hat Brewing Company (South Burlington, VT). The variety pack included:
- #9 – Not Quite Pale Ale, a tasty apricot Pale Ale
- Lucky Kat, Magic Hat’s IPA
- Vinyl, the self-described Scrumptious Spring Lager, and I agree
- Odd Notion (spring ’10 version), “cross-pollinates the classic American Wheat beer with an American Pale Ale.”
With more than two feet of snow, we needed more than a 12 pack of Magic Hat to keep us occupied. I thought I was sufficiently stocked for the snowstorm but I’m beginning to wonder, now that we’ve been home-bound for about 72 hours. The empties are piling up, many from the Samuel Adams Brewmasters Colection which included two each of:
- Boston Lager
- Boston Ale
- Coastal Wheat
- Noble Pils
- Scotch Ale
- Cream Stout
We also went through (click for past posts on these variety packs):
- Hook and Ladder Variety Pack (Silver Spring, MD)
- Harpoon Wintry Mix (Boston, MA)
Finally, we emptied six packs of:
- Samuel Adams Blackberry Witbier (Boston, MA)
- Hoegaarden (Belgium)
- Bell’s Two Hearted Ale (Kalamazoo, MI)
- Tuppers’ Hop Pocket Ale (actually a four pack, Hampton, VA)
I’ll have more on those last two beers in separate posts.
We enjoyed many of these beers while watching the Saints beat the Colts in Super Bowl 44. I’ve included a small gallery of photos from the snowstorm (February 5-6, 2010). As of Monday, February 8 at noon, our street has not been plowed. They’re calling for another 6-12 inches tomorrow night. I hope the plow comes soon so that I have a chance to go to the beer store before the next storm!
