Interrupting my Maine Beer Trip Report for a couple of catch-up posts…
I followed up my spring trip to Vancouver with a summer trip to Montréal. With two trips to Canada in two months, I’m getting spoiled. I love everything about Canada, especially the beer and the Poutine!
I was in Montréal for only three days, and my days and nights were filled with meetings and business dinners. I still found time to sample some good local brew and savor my favorite pub grub, Poutine, which is a dish of French Fries topped with fresh cheese curds and covered with brown gravy.
I had a dish of Poutine at Les 3 Brasseurs on the corner of lively Crescent and Ste-Catherine in Montréal. I ordered a sampler rack to go with it, which came with six house-brewed beers:
- White
- Blonde
- Amber
- Brown
- American Red Cream Ale
- Raspberry Ale
My Montréal beer adventures were not limited to Les 3 Brasseurs — I enjoyed a happy hour trio of Alexander Keith’s pints at my hotel bar at the Delta Centre-Ville:
- IPA
- Dark Ale
- Red Amber Ale
Finally, I made it back to the site of one of my all-time favorite brewpub experiences: Brutopia. On my last trip to Montréal in 2004, I made new Canadian friends at Brutopia, and it was just as friendly as I remembered. I had pints of:
- IPA
- Cherry Wheat
I’m already counting down the days until my next trip to Canada — Toronto in January 2014.

That sounds great! Next time you are in Montréal you have to try to convince Unibroue to start offering tours.
