Part 3 of my late summer trip to Oregon [See Part 1 and Part 2]…
OREGON, August 2015 — After my meeting on Mt. Hood, I enjoyed the beauty and the beer of the Oregon coast. Lunch at Seaside Brewing Company in the quaint coastal town of Seaside was a highlight.
Beers Sampled: I ordered a sampler rack of the seven house beers on draft.
I was most impressed with: The Fish Tacos! The beer was great, but Seaside’s Fish Tacos are the best I’ve ever had. Featuring fresh Cod, battered in rice flour and deep fried, these build-your-own tacos were served with steamed corn tortillas, cilantro, shredded cabbage, limes, fresh house-made mango salsa, and house-made chipotle sauce. Fish Tacos are one of my go-to pub grub dishes, so I’ve had them a lot, and these were out-of-this-world.
And oh by the way: The brewpub is located in the 100-year old former City Jail building, and the taps come out of the old jail cell that once served as the city’s drunk tank!
Bonus note: Seaside Brewing Company has cool tap handles. According to the brewery, “Tap handles say a lot about a brewery’s culture and they are an opportunity for expression. What ours say about us is that we are unique, and deeply connected to the big beautiful ocean that makes this such an amazing place to live and brew craft beer.”
