Labor Day Weekend 2009 — I was driving home from work on Friday, September 4 and made my usual stop at Magruder’s on Connecticut Avenue to pick up some beer for the weekend.  I like stopping at Magruder’s on Fridays because of their beer tastings.  This week they were offering the Spaten Oktoberfest beer.  It was a decent Oktoberfest but I decided I wasn’t ready to venture into fall beers just yet.  I wanted to continue the summer vibe over Labor Day Weekend with more summer brews!

I picked up the Harpoon Brewery Summer Vacation Mix 12 pack, which offers a nice variety of their mainstays and seasonal beers:

• IPA, one of my favorite session IPAs
• UFO Hefeweizen, a delicious full-bodied wheat, even better with a slice of lemon
• Crystal Wheat, a crisp wheat beer filtered for brilliant clarity, only available in the Summer Mix Pack
• Summer Beer, a Kolsch style ale that is light and refreshing, perfect for summer

I also picked up the Sam Adams Summer Mix pack to enjoy with family and neighbors over a beautiful Labor Day Weekend.  Good-bye summer – and summer beers.
