Another entry for my beer travelogue…
Liberty, Maine, December 2014 — I added a new brewery to my collection when I visited Liberty Craft Brewing during a trip to Maine over the holidays. This nano-brewery had only been opened for two months when I visited, and it had the feel (and taste) of a start-up operation. The brewer home-brewed for six years before he decided to open his own business, and as he poured my four-beer flight into paper Dixie cups, he told me that I was sampling “the closest thing to home brew that you can buy commercially.”
The brewery tasting room was on the second floor of a lodge-like building and had the feel of a “man cave.” Here’s brewer Guy behind his beautiful hand-built bar.
My flight included the three house beers on tap, plus the Queen Bee Honey Lager from a bottle.
I mixed a six-pack to take home to Maryland.
My visit to Liberty Craft Brewing was a memorable experience, and I’m sure I’ll be back on a future trip to Maine.
