Another entry for my beer travelogue…
Belfast, Maine, December 2014 — The beer highlights of my trip to Maine over the holidays involved sampling brew from Marshall Wharf Brewing Company at both the brewery tasting room and Three Tides restaurant on the Belfast waterfront.
I sampled the line-up in the brewery tasting room:
And left with growlers of Dr. Dunkleweizen and The Bitter Truth ESB.
Later in the trip, I went to Three Tides, the restaurant adjacent to the brewery that features Marshall Wharf brews:
I had a 5-beer sampler at Three Tides:
The sampler included the hoppy Ace Hole Pale Ale (6.4% ABV), the hoppier Big Twitch IPA (9.0% ABV), and the hoppiest Cant Dog Imperial IPA (10.0% ABV). Throw in the T2-R9 Barleywine at 11.2% ABV and you’ve got a helluva strong beer sampler! And I didn’t even mention the fifth beer – Illegal Ale-Ien (8.0% ABV), a hybrid kolsch/wheat beer brewed with organic blue agave nectar. What a line-up!
