On Throwback Thursday, I’m looking back on a trip to Ottawa in June 2015 and my visit to Clocktower Brew Pub.
OTTAWA, June 2015 — Last summer I was in Ottawa for a few days for a meeting and I found time to explore the local beer scene (surprise! LOL). The highlight was my dinner at Clocktower Brew Pub, but I made several other beer stops too. I could not have picked a better time to visit Canada’s beautiful capital city with its perfect weather, refreshing summer brew, and Ribfest! That’s right, I was in town for the city’s annual rib festival, dubbed “Canada’s Largest Sticky Social.” Drool-inducing BBQ meat photo below, but first, my visit to Clocktower.
Beers Sampled: There were seven beers on tap, so I ordered the full flight.
In addition to the five standard house beers, there were two seasonals on tap.
There are actually five Clocktower Brew Pub locations in Ottawa; I went to the historical ByWard Market location. It was a great spot for beer and dinner, and yes, I had the poutine!
Besides Clocktower, I enjoyed local craft beer at:
Three Brewers, one of my favorite Canadian restaurant chains, for their fresh brew and poutine…
Mill St. Ottawa Brewpub, located in a beautiful old mill building on the Ottawa River originally built in 1850. This was a unique setting to grab a flight…
And then there was Ribfest, where I enjoyed BBQ with my beer.
