In honor of the 88th annual Chincoteague Pony Swim held today, I offer the Eastern Shore Brewery Round-Up – a four-post series highlighting breweries on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Part 2: Be Burley.
On my way to Ocean City, Maryland for a weekend camping trip at Frontier Town, we took a pit stop at Burley Oak Brewing Company in Berlin. This was my third trip to Burley Oak (I blogged about my first visit last year).
I walked in with two empty growlers and found 11 beers on the beer menu:
I had a 4-beer flight so I could make an informed decision on my growler fills. My flight included: Just the Tip, Dry Tip, Dirty Blonde, and ‘Merica. I was looking for easy-drinking sessionable brews to enjoy at the camp site over the weekend.
I also had a sampler-size Waffle Stomper, a strong and tasty Belgian IPA. Later in the weekend I had a pint of Rude Boy, an Imperial Red Ale, at The Lazy River Saloon, the restaurant beside the Frontier Town Water Park. I love the names of the Burley Oak brews!
Burley Oak is easily becoming a must-visit on my summer trips to Ocean City. All the beers were solid – I filled my growlers with ‘Merica, an American Brown Ale, and Dirty Blonde, an unfiltered Blonde Ale.
