Interrupting my Maine Beer Trip Report for a couple of catch-up posts…
Three Brothers Brewing Company is one of my new favorite breweries. On a recent overnight trip to Harrisonburg, Virginia, I spent an afternoon in the tasting room of Three Brothers and came away thoroughly impressed.
I arrived just as the tasting room opened at 4:00 p.m. and was greeted by a large selection of 10 house beers. Since I came in with two empty growlers in hand, I decided to sample the entire line-up.
I started with the weekly preset 5-beer flight of “Liz’s Favorites” (see bottom right of beer chalkboard) and then filled in a second flight with the remaining five. There were so many standouts:
- Coffee Breath, with its pronounced coffee profile
- Admiral, the strong Double IPA
- Hoptimization, an American IPA with a serious hop bite
- Belgian Blonde and Belgian Dubbel, both strong and complex
As much as I loved the big beers, I filled my two growlers with session brews: Tri Brathair and American Amber.
The tasting room at Three Brothers filled quickly and it was easy to see why this is a popular spot — the excellent beer selection, friendly staff, and relaxed atmosphere will make this a must-stop whenever I pass by Harrisonburg on I81.
Hey there! Adam from Three Brothers here, thanks for the write up and I hope you get to come back down again sometime soon!
