Where did the summer go? A hectic end to the summer caused the Boa Beer Blog to go dark, as August came and went without a blog post — the longest stretch since I started blogging over five years ago.
I’ll ease back in with a rite of fall – the Sam Adams Harvest Collection. The 2014 edition features three bottles each of:
- Boston Lager (4.9%), I can drink Boston Lager anytime I want, so why is it included in every Sam Adams seasonal mixed 12-pack?
- Octoberfest (5.3%), one of my favorite fest beers of the fall season is hearty, smooth, and extremely drinkable
- Harvest Pumpkin Ale (5.7%), brewed with pumpkin and spices like ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg, this beer is a well-balanced pumpkin ale
- Harvest Saison (6.0%), an excellent interpretation of a traditional Saison
I was disappointed to see the Sam Adams Harvest Collection scale back from the usual 6 different beers to 4 – I like variety! Hope this isn’t a sign of things to come with Sam seasonal 12-packs.
It is a little foreboding to see Sam Adams including only three (!) seasonals in the 12-pack. Glad to see the fall beers on the store shelves, though!
